UN MESSAGE DE LA FAMILLE
The matriarch of the George & Katherine Wright’s Ohana… Lucille Emalia Wright Wong, born on July 7, 1925, in Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, in San Diego, California, at the age of 99. Lucille was the eldest of thirteen siblings and embraced her role as a guiding presence within her large family. She dedicated much of her professional life to the hospitality industry, serving as a Banquet Director until her retirement in 1990. Her exceptional contributions were recognized with the prestigious James V. Cunningham Award and the Hilton Hotel Corporation Employee of the Year honor—testaments to her dedication and excellence in her field. In her spare time, she could often be found trying her luck at the local casinos, cheering on the horses at Del Mar, or dominating the BINGO cards at her memory care home—she was a true ringer, and nobody ever underestimated her luck! Lucille was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ivan Wong. She is survived by her brother Jack Wright (Edna); her children Frances Wiese (Tim), Ivan Wong Jr., Ian Wong (Sally), and Terry Kurtenbach (David); five cherished grandchildren; three grand-dogs; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will remember her with love and gratitude. Lucille’s legacy is one of hard work, devotion to family, and an enduring spirit that touched all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
