Our beloved Maha George Baddour passed away on July 30, 2024 after losing her battle to stage four ovarian cancer at the age of 67. She was surrounded by her loved ones as she took her final breath with us.
Maha was born on March 16, 1957 in Jerusalem. At eight years old, Maha and her family immigrated to the United States, where they settled in San Diego, California. Maha and her family were one of the first Palestinian immigrants to arrive in eastern San Diego. Upon moving to San Diego, her father, George Baddour, and uncle, Louie Baddour, purchased K&L Market, a convenience store in the heart of Bay Park. At the young age of thirteen, Maha began her tenure at K&L Market. Maha, with the help of her brothers and business partners, Philip Baddour and Michael Baddour continued to spend the majority of her life supporting the family business, which has remained in the Baddour family for over sixty years. Maha’s lively personality, diligence, sense of humor, and business savvy undoubtedly contributed to the family’s success of K&L Market. Her unwavering optimism and joyous character made first time customers feel as though they were already part of the Baddour family. She will forever be missed by longtime customers, friends, and family.
Maha is survived by her two brothers, Philip and Michael Baddour, her sisters in law, Lorena and Jilma Baddour, her nieces Adriana, Michelle, and Kristina Baddour, and her nephews Anton and Michael Baddour. Maha carried a profound love for her nieces and nephews throughout her life that will never be forgotten.
Maha’s life will be celebrated by her closest family members in a small ceremony closed to the public. Please join us in paying tribute to Maha by donating to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) to help in the fight against ovarian cancer. https://tribute.ocrahope.org/mahagbaddour
