Maria Julia Da Silva Cordeiro, a devoted Catholic and loving mother, peacefully passed away on April 23, 2025, at the age of 97. Born in 1927 in Pico, Azores, Portugal, she was a cherished member of the Catholic community and a true testament to the power of faith and family.
Maria was a beacon of love and compassion, always offering a warm embrace and smile. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her actions and shaping her character. She found comfort in prayer, strength in scripture, and joy in sharing her faith with others.
As a mother, she nurtured her children with unwavering love and support, teaching them the importance of kindness, compassion, and integrity. She instilled in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and a strong moral compass. Her home was a place of warmth and laughter, where family shared stories, meals, and memories.
Maria was known for her baking and gardening. She brought her baking skills for making delicious Massa Sovada and Malassadas from Portugal to the delight of her grandchildren. Love for nurturing things was evident in her beautiful patio. She loved to collect cuttings from various plants, nurture them, and place them in pots on her patio. She found joy in caring for them, watching as they thrived under her attention. Each season brought new blooms and colors, making her patio a vibrant oasis. The time spent in her garden was not just a hobby; it was a source of peace and inspiration that brightened her days.
Maria is survived by her family, including three children, Mauricio, Alberto, and Maria (Robert), as well as her four grandchildren: Anna (Alexander), John (Sarah), Caroline, and Robert, who will forever remember her love, her wisdom, and her unwavering faith. She was preceded in death by her husband Henrique, who passed away in 2004.
