

On Wednesday, February 14, 2017, Valentines Day, Maria Bernabe Lizada, beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away at the age of 50 years. Maria will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend, Lito Tiu, and her precious child, Megan, by her parents Erlinda, and by her brother Nonato. Maria will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Maria finished her Nursing School in 1998 at her alma mater St. Paul's College of Nursing in the Philippines. In 1989 Maria began her nursing career in the Philippines as a Lab Nursing Instructor where she would spend 2 years teaching students at St. Paul's College of Nursing, Philippines. In 1991, Maria came here in the United States as a contract worker and started her first work as a staff nurse at one of the nursing homes located at Raleigh, North Carolina. She eventually relocated to another area in North Carolina where she got most of her acute care experience. Maria moved to California in 2007 and in 2008 she would eventually apply and get accepted for a Charge Nurse position by the Unit Director Johanna Boucher, who also became her good friend and confidant at Rady Children's Hospital, Helen Bernardy Center where she has worked ever since.
A viewing and Celebration of Life will be held on February 25, 2018 at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121, officiated by Reverend Sey.
A Mass of Maria will be held on Friday, February 26, at 12:00 noon, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8200 Gold Coast Dr., San Diego, CA 92126.
Prayers and Memorial Mass offerings in her memory will also be greatly appreciated.
