

Maria Goretti Magpantay known to all as Auntie Mary was born in Paul Do Mar, Madeira, Portugal on October 25th 1953. She lived in Portugal until March 1966 when she and her siblings moved to Point Loma, CA.
While at Pt. Loma, she attended Cabrillo Elementary School, Then to Dana Middle School and then Graduated from High School at Point Loma High School. She attended Sequoia College and studied accounting.
She married Ray Magpantay on April 1974 and begun her new life as a Navy wife. She traveled throughout the United States and overseas duty in Japan and Guam. She spent 3 years in Yokosuka and Sasebo, Japan.
After separating from the Navy on 1993, Mary and her family moved to Dutch Harbor, Alaska where they lived until 2005. While in Alaska, she had her own gift shop named "Unalaska Boutique" selling various curio items. While operating her boutique, was working full time as Office Manager for "Fisher Trawler Services" serving the commercial fishing vessels operating at Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
She enjoys cooking and learning new recipe. She cooks a killer "Kare-Kare" (Peanut Butter Stew). Her adobo and sinigang are also awesome. She owned and operated a Filipino Restaurant in Dutch Harbor, Alaska named "Manila Food Restaurant."
She also loves traveling. On one occasion, she and her husband drove from San Diego, CA to Washington D.C. Just driving for 6 to8 hours and spending the night on whatever town they decided to spend the night. She enjoyed their stay at New Orleans so much that they stayed there for 3 days.
Due to her illness which was diagnosed on October 2005, her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. While in Las Vegas, she enjoyed playing bingo and penny slot machine when visiting local casinos. While having her treatment in Las Vegas, her doctor recommended for her to participate in an experimental treatment of bone marrow transplant at Scripps Green Hospital. She received stem cell/bone marrow transplant on April 2012. Her donor was her sister Ana Schafer.
Mary is survived by her husband Ray, her children Ray Jr. and Reggie. Daisy who is married to Ray Jr has three children: Aaliyah, Adan and Akai.
She is also survived by Maria Jose (mother) , Ana (sister), Steve, Tim , Tania, Tommy, and Patty. Minerva (sister in law), Lisa and Braulio, Edgar, and Hady. Conrad Jr and Beth, Nolie and Grace, Jing and Vince, Rorie and Real, Edna and Oscar. Nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
