

Marianne Conway Laub Ray, 92, of La Jolla, California, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024, at her home in La Jolla.
Marianne was born on August 16, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, to Francis and Marion Conway. As a young child, she moved to Los Angeles, California, and resided in Westwood. She had fond memories of her childhood with her brother, Frank Conway. Later, she pursued her education at the San Francisco College for Women and Marymount College in Los Angeles.
In 1955, Marianne married William Laub in Los Angeles. Together, they settled in Winnetka, Illinois, to raise their family. They had four children: Stephen, Susan, James and Judy. Marianne was passionate about teaching in the Catholic school system, where she devoted 22 years to shaping the minds and hearts of countless students at All Hallows Academy in La Jolla. She was also deeply devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marianne married Eugene Anthony Ray in 2004. Together, they had a beautiful marriage and traveled extensively throughout Europe. They lived in La Jolla for the past two years at Chateau La Jolla and enjoyed walking near the beach daily.
Marianne is survived by her husband, Eugene Anthony Ray; her children, Stephen Laub, Susan Reid (Bruce), James Laub, and Judy McParlane (John); her grandchildren, Sheila, Francine, Roxana, Nicholas, Ella, Roderick, Jack and Mary Grace; and her great-grandchildren, Reid, Augus, Rose, and Connor.
A funeral mass will be held on June 11th at 11:00 am at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, La Jolla. A reception will follow at Chateau La Jolla.
