

On Tuesday, February 23, 2021, Marion Grace Smith, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away peacefully in Denver, Colorado. She was 95 years old. Marion is survived by her three children, her seven grandchildren, and her ten great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Stanley “Stan” Smith in 2014. At the time they had been married for 68 years.
Marion was born in Oklahoma City in 1925. As a girl she lived in Prescott, Arizona and later moved with her family to Santa Monica, California. She attended Santa Monica High School where she was President and valedictorian of her class. In addition she attended Santa Monica City college. Marion and her husband Stan were married in 1946 at the Little Chapel of the Dawn in Santa Monica. They lived in West Los Angeles and soon moved back to Santa Monica. In 1962, Marion, her husband, and her two children moved to Sunnyvale, California, and later relocated to San Diego, California. In the 1980’s Marion and Stan purchased a home on the Truckee River where they lived for many years after Stan’s retirement. They moved to Colorado, back to Squaw Valley, California, and finally settled near Denver, Colorado.
Through the years, Marion focused the bulk of her attention on the wellbeing of her husband, raising her children and keeping a home. She liked playing tennis and cross-country skiing. Marion enjoyed writing poetry. She published a book of her life’s work of poetry entitled Dear Children as a chronicle of events that were significant to her; life experiences and observations.
