Mary Perkins

Mary Katherine (Buechner) Perkins, 81, passed away May 16, 2012. She was born December 5, 1930 to Richard and Angeline Buechner in San Diego, CA, where she resided her entire life. We mourn her passing but more importantly we celebrate her life. Mary, until very recently was the busiest woman we know. She attended Mass several times a week, went to the YMCA two days per week, belonged to a TOPS club where she was the treasurer for many years and served in various roles in St. Anthony's Sodality at St. Rita's Church. She was a graduate of the class of 1948 at Cathedral Catholic Girls High School in San Diego, and has remained close friends with the ladies in her graduating class. She was an extremely hard worker and had several jobs throughout her life but most recently she worked as a Ticket Taker for the Padres and Chargers, a passion she shared with her husband of 45 years, Arthur Perkins. She was a very devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, friend and Christian. She passed on her love for her Lord and Savior to all her children and her devotion to Christ was evident to everyone she met.

She is survived by her ten children; Arthur (Irmgard) Perkins, Kathleen Harris, Marie (Jack) Goodridge, Dan Perkins, Michelle Boh, Ted (Rachel) Perkins, Louise (Tom) Bennett, Rita (Scott) Thorson, Frank (Martha) Perkins and Amy (Dan) Dickey. 20 grandchildren; Angie Kohler, Udo Perkins, Terrell Harris, Zachary and Quentin Goodridge, Spooky Perkins, Katrina Pierce, Margaret Wahlrab, Rebecca Newman, Ben Choy, Scott Bennett, Alexis Quinn, Wyatt Thorson, Sophie Perkins, Melissa, Michael, Thad, Elizabeth, Abigail and Elijah Dickey, and 18 great-grandchildren; Jennifer, Jakob and Elias Perkins, Trenton and Tristen Harris, Ethan, Dracen and Emma Pierce, Austin, Shyann and Summer Wahlrab, Melanie Newman, Catherine Love Bennett, Trinity, Julianna, Niriah and Kianna Quinn and Kayden Kern. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters; Bettie McGoyne, Richard (Nancy) Buechner, Ruth (Victor) Leith, John (Sandy) Buechner, Robert (Carol) Buechner, Dorothy (Jim) Dobry, Angie Brice and Bernadette (Tom) Salazar. She has lots of other extended cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Perkins and her mother and father.

There will be a Rosary on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. and the funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Both services will be held at St. Rita's Catholic Church on Churchward Street in San Diego. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
