Maryanne Bushnell was born December 21, 1943, in San Francisco, California to Joseph and Katherine McGrath. She spent her early years growing up in Burlingame, California where she ultimately graduated from Mercy High School. She went on to graduate as a Registered Nurse from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Phoenix, Arizona and served as a Registered Nurse for many years. On May 27, 1967, Maryanne married Mart Bushnell at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic church in Burlingame and together they raised four children, Kiersten, Matt, Kathleen, and Marty.
Maryanne came from a strong Irish family where she was the second daughter of four children growing up on Corbitt Drive in Burlingame. Maryanne’s childhood home was always the center of activity, filled with family, friends, energy and many stories.
Maryanne and Mart celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in 2022. As well, Maryanne and Mart were world travelers. In 1969, Maryanne and family moved from the United States to Martigues, France for her husband’s new work assignment with the U.S. Air Force. While living in France, they took advantage of the opportunity and traveled throughout Europe and the U.K. While stationed in France, their first daughter Kathleen was born, they developed a great affinity for French wine and taught the local butchers how to make hamburger. In addition to France, the family lived in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Edwards AFB and Lancaster, California, and Ogden, Utah.
As residents of San Diego, Maryanne and Mart attended daily mass at St. Therese church, explored San Diego extensively, worked on their home and garden, spent time with their children and grandchildren, and “road tripped” frequently to visit friends and family.
Maryanne is survived by her husband, Mart, daughters, Kathleen Edmunds, and Kiersten Bushnell, her son Mart Bushnell and spouse Lisa Delasalas, seven grandchildren Kenedi, Gavin, Jude, Jasmine, Mart, Laurel, and Kane, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded by her son Matthew Bushnell (d. 1981).
