Mike was a San Diego native and graduated from Valhalla high school, Class of 79. After that, he earned a business degree from San Diego State in marketing. He started his career in quality control at Rohr Industries and later worked in the construction field until getting a General Contractor License himself to start his own company. Schearing Construction became widely recognized for high quality projects around San Diego County.
An avid sportsman, Mike was a high school footballer, and CIF wrestling champion. He excelled at sports his love; snow skiing, water skiing and scuba diving. He taught others how to safely enjoy the world beneath the waves as a certified diving instructor. He was cheerlead-in-chief for his wife Kathleen in her running events. Together they spent many weekends “On the River” in Arizona with friends.
Mike was also known for his love of German shepherds.
He is survived by his mother Judith Moreland, wife Kathleen Schearing, sister Jody Schearing-LeMoine, and two children, Christopher and Courtney.
