Nick was born on December 24th, 1989, in San Diego, to his loving parents- PJ and Mark Fiocco.
While in elementary school Nick made a special group of friends he kept for his whole life. In middle school, Nick started doing technical theater and by high school it was obvious he had a special talent for the art.
After graduating, Nick leveraged that talent into a position as the Technical Director at Del Norte High School, responsible for all aspects of technical theater. His most important role there, however, was as a teacher. He taught theater students for more than 10 years how to execute all the technical aspects of putting on a show. Some of these students went on to work in the industry, and many credit Nick as a mentor and inspiration.
Nick was extremely bright and well read. He was passionate in his opinions on both social and practical issues (from capitalism to the best 10” fry pan). He was very methodical in his research and would cite well rounded multiple sources in his opinion, expressing his views eloquently and formidably. We often used Nick as a source of knowledge and he was quick and generous in sharing what he knew.
Nick never lost sight of what truly mattered in life: his family and friends. He had a close-knit group of friends who he considered to be like family, and he cherished every moment he spent with them. He had an exceptionally warm heart for his platonic life partner, Lindsey. She had been with him for the greater part of his life and his last moments before death. Lindsey is family in the most profound sense.
Nick leaves behind his parents, his sister Christiana, brother-in-law Reuben, niece Mo, and, of course, Lindsey.
A memorial service for Nicholas will be held Monday, April 3, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pacific Beach – La Jolla Chapel, 4710 Cass Street, San Diego, CA 92109.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to support Nick's passions: the Electronic Frontier Foundation in their efforts to champion Net Neutrality and the Audubon Society because birds are silly and great.
