Norma L. Chandler

4 novembre 191827 janvier 2021

Norma L Chandler passed away peacefully on January 27, 2021 at the age of 102. Born November 4, 1918 to Fred and Vera (Moulton) Noble in Kings County, WA, she and her four siblings enjoyed the country life. She married Eugene T “Chan” Chandler, a naval officer, on December 6, 1940. Navy life took them to many wonderful locations around the world: Hawaii, Japan, Long Beach, and eventually retiring in San Diego.

Norma had enormous energy. She spent her time caring for their home and two sons, Rodger and Mitchell. Gifted, curious and active only begin to paint a picture of this woman who sought to live life to the fullest. After raising her sons, she served as an escrow officer at Glendale Federal Savings & Loan. When she wasn’t attending to work or family, she enjoyed the piano, traveling and camping. She loved the organ, dancing, playing cards and crafts of all kinds. She also found time to participate in numerous organizations – the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association (spouse), Clairmont Women’s Club, Lady Moose Eagle Elkinette, Soledad Bridge Club, and Organ Stop Club.

She is survived by six grandchildren (Jennifer Durham, Rodger Chandler II, Robert Chandler, Jeffrey Chandler, Michele Anderson and Jennifer Chandler), eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, two sons (Rodger and Mitchell), grandson (Eric Chandler), her brother (Willis Noble) and three sisters (Mildred Kallgren, Francis Macgathan, Maryon Noble). Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 at El Camino Memorial-Sorrento Valley, San Diego CA.
