Patricia lived a life dedicated to service — to her country, her church, and her family. Born in Minnesota, she moved to Arizona for high school and later attended Mount St. Mary’s University in Los Angeles, where she earned her nursing degree. Her nursing career took her to the U.S. Navy, where she served as a Navy Nurse, training hundreds of corpsmen and serving in the US, Japan and Guam. Her final station was San Diego, where she taught at the Naval Training Center.
In 1967, Patricia married Classen, and after the birth of their first daughter, Anne, she chose to focus on raising her family. During her daughters’ childhood, Patricia was actively involved in the PTA and Girl Scouts. Later, she returned to work full-time as a nurse, dedicating herself to the ER and Intensive Care Units at Hillside Hospital and Cabrillo Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Patricia’s memory to Mount St. Mary’s University, Sacred Heart Church of Ocean Beach, or the Girl Scouts.
Patricia will be remembered for her dedication to those she loved and the lasting impact she had on everyone she encountered.
A funeral mass for Patricia will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Ocean Beach, 4776 Saratoga Avenue, San Diego, CA 92107.
