He grew up in Roseland, attended Mendel Catholic High School and went on to Western Illinois University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology which served him well in his career in pharmaceuticals and diagnostics.
In 1973, he married his college sweetheart and together they raised two beautiful daughters in the Chicago suburbs until 1991 when they relocated to San Diego for Paul’s work with Hybritech.
Following a diagnosis of cancer, Paul spent the past 3 ½ years bravely embracing all treatments to prolong his life. He passed away peacefully at home in San Diego surrounded by his wife and daughters.
Paul is survived by his wife, Lynn (Everett), daughters, Jennifer (Eric) McFadden and Tracy (Shane) Smith, grandchildren, Aiden McFadden, Bennett Smith and Addison Smith, mother, Veronica, brothers, Phillip and George, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dog Charlie.
Paul’s life was filled with playing baseball in his younger years and many outdoor activities later in life. He was passionate about gardening and cooking and loved sharing both with everyone he could. Most of all, Paul was gentle, kind and a friend to all.
