
Rafaela Galindo de Ochoa was born in Colima, Colima 90 years ago. Her parents were Cornelio Galindo and Maria Cruz. She was raised by her paternal aunt Cleofas after she became orphaned as a young child.
Rafaela grew up in Colima and became a stenographer after finishing school. She married Enrique Q. Ochoa, a young jeweler, in 1949. Shortly afterwards, they decided to move as far north as possible in Mexico and they made Tijuana their home until 1964. They were married for 63 years and their last home together was in San Diego, CA - a place they dearly loved.
As a Catholic teen in Colima, Rafaela befriended 2 neighborhood sisters, Mercedes and Maria Ochoa. The trio attended the Youth group at their local church. These 2 women would later become her sisters-in-law since they introduced her to their older brother, Enrique, who also attended the Catholic youth group.
She enjoyed being with family and loved using adages when conversing.
As a dedicated mother of seven, she raised her children in the Catholic faith and instilled her strong moral values supporting her children in their aspirations for their future.
She was happy listening to music, singing, visiting family and friends and in later years, gardening and traveling. She will be greatly missed by not only her family but also her friends.
She leaves behind 3 sons (Enrique, Luis and Felipe), four daughters (Esther Torres, Guillermina Ochoa, Gloria Rennison, Guadalupe Mercado), 19 grandchildren and at least 23 great-grandchildren.
