Randy,
 After spending 20 years overseas in the military and just now coming back to the states I have never forgotten you.  I am so sad to find we will never be able to catch up on old times.
 
I remember spending weekends over at your place in Warner Robins with Gene and Mark playing board games/gaming systems.  Very few people in all my life had such a rich imagination and freedom of thought.  I recall many six hour “Axis and Allies” gaming sessions that I will never forget. Also remember your computer had a 300 baud modem and we would surf bulletin boards together.

At around that time your dad had been working on an old El Camino truck that he was planning to sell to me, which our plans of going cruising in it ended when my mother found out. 

I believe you were in your last year at North Side when I moved off to college and when I checked back your family had moved. 

If any of Randy's family or friends read this message I would like to hear what stories, pictures, and events that took place the last 20 years.

it is with a heavy heart that I have finally found you!
I have looked every year or two since we last spoke 20 years ago.
Though we were great friends for only a few years you influenced me more than you will ever know...I didn't start reading books until we starting hanging out...that alone is huge but there was so much more wisdom you gifted me with...
I remember laying on your floor spending yet another night at your place so we could talk about the most random topics...the possibility that microscopic black holes were the force that destroy as a knife cut came out of a conversation about prime numbers and infinite combinations.
My son is an avid reader because I was because you were.
I remember your sister being stuck on Dirty Dancing…every day…every day after school she would watch that movie…haha.
I couldn't believe it when you told me you flew to Great Falls Montana to visit me in July...after our conversation in December...I wish we would have planned that better...
When your family moved to Panama City I was devastated…only a handful times since have I been so lost as I was when you guys left...we tried hard to hold on to our friendship didn't we...I didn't have a car but somehow made the 6 hour journey between Warner Robins and Panama City seven times....one of those drives the radio was broadcasting the live fall of the Berlin wall. You came to visit me in Montana when I decided to live in the mountains for a year.
You were a great person even then…brilliant, loyal, a thirst for knowing more. 
All day I have been in a daze…even after all these years knowing you are gone has taken something out of me…
Tears won't stop while I write this…
My friend, I can't wait to see you at the next stop of the eternal journey through the multiverse!

Randy and I were great friends in high school a bit after...I have been looking for him off and on every couple of years since we lost touch mamy many years back...
I would love to hear a couple stories about him...I was totally crushed when I found him today...

Randall was an important part of our family, especially around the big holidays. As Thanksgiving nears, I know this one isn't going to be easy. We just don't get things started until Randy's in the door holding a bottle of that Almond Champaign. 

He and I didn't make it out to all the hikes we had on our list. He always wanted to hike to or near a water source, a lake, river, or stream. When I finally got him on Cowles Mountain, an arid trail, I promised we wouldn't run in to any rattle snakes. I'd never seen one on that busy trail in my, at the time, 30 odd years. Sure enough, after the fourth switchback, a good sized rattler was draped across the trail. Randall seemed to know that day would be the exception.

Randall introduced me to Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game. And as a consequence, many of my students have left my classroom over the years with that novel as their favorite read. Randall once judged a fiction writing contest our teens were competing in at my school. He took the responsibility seriously and imparted wise advice to the budding writers while sharing fascinating ideas with the kids. Several of my students were very impressed by that “professional author” I'd introduced them to. I didn't blow his cover. For me, Randall was that professional author, that man of great ideas, and that man who could keep you up all night picking apart scientific or historical controversies. 

Randall never let Amaya and Hannah down when it came to Christmas or birthdays. When the litter of all the gifts was scattered about and the mystery of the boxes and bags was revealed, it was Randall's talking-rocking pink unicorn or the large dinosaurs that were the kid's favorites. Randall once gave Amaya this princess play house and he called later to see how she liked it. I reported that it was a huge hit but it was a major pain to set up. He replied, “Yes, David, that was the idea” and chuckled. More recently, Randall loved hearing that Amaya enjoyed dinosaurs and insects. 

I remember one evening sitting with Darren and Randall discussing the moon landing. Randall was, as he sometimes liked to do, throwing out random but seemingly exact percentages for the likelihood of this or the improbability of that. Darren, Tanya, and I looked at each other and just smiled enjoying the man who loved to be precise in his estimations. I want to hear another estimate right now. Damn, I'm gonna miss that. 

Our poker games with Randall were trying for some, but I always enjoyed his haphazard play, probably because I've never been any good at the game. But as long as he was there along with our family of friends it was sure to be fun. After some fits and starts of chip gathering and some lackluster play, he'd announce that he was going all in. We would all look at each other as he explained how he wasn't sure if he had the right cards but he was going to risk it nonetheless. Dubiously some folded, some stayed. Randall went all in early and won the pot, gathering it up with a light chuckle. We'd shake our heads like I'm shaking mine right now. Damn it, Randall! You went all in too early again, brother, and I miss you!

Randall,
I will miss you tremendously. You were not only a great person to be around, but also a great Boss to work for. Thank you for being a part of my life,even for a brief moment.

When Randall left PGS I had the daunting challenge of taking his place as Branch Manager. Huge shoes to fill. Everbody liked him and he was so well respected in this industry. Rest in Peace my friend.

Randall was my San Diego branch manager for over 2.5 years. He was a man of integrity and honor. He typically shared stories of his parents, family and his college years in Florida. He was a security professional who always contributed 110% of his time and dedication. Randall was a loving son, husband and father to his special K-9 friend. As family and friends you should ALL hold you head high as you touched Randall's heart daily. Randall will be missed by his San Diego security family. His contribution and blessings were second to none. Thank you Randall for touching our souls.

There are so many wonderful things to be said about Randall.  He was a great man and I feel truly blessed and honored to have worked for him.  He touched so many lives in San Diego and was a much respected man.  In the 2 ½ years that I spent with him at PGS, they were the best.  He taught me so much and gave me good advice professional and personally and I am forever grateful.   He was not just my boss he was my friend.  It saddens me deeply that he was taken for us so early.  Rest in peace Randall.  You will be GREATLY missed.

You were a happy child and you grew up to be a wonderful man, a man that I was very proud of and I know that your dad would have been extremely proud of all that you have acomplished in your short life on earth. Randall and I have been friends around 25 yrs, He's the reason I came out to california twice. A true friend, a great man , honest and hardworking and fun loving , with a great many interests. He was in the process of buying his 1st home so he could have a place to start writing science fiction and fantasy novels which im sure would have been great as he had a great imagination. Thx for going to see Slayer with me Brother, I will always Love and miss you man, thank you so very much for all the times we spent together, they were far too few .

Randall I have many fond memories growing up with you.  I've thought about you and your dad so much lately.  I can remember one summer we went scalloping and picked up a whole boat full of scallops.  You have always been loved and will always be missed.  But, never fear for I believe we shall meet again on the shores where the angels sing!

Rest in peace my cousin. I know you are walking on streets of gold with your father, Randy. The Lord called a angel home. You will be greatly missed. I love you.

This picture was taken on the way up to Darren's retirement earlier this year.  We stopped on the side of the road and had a lunch we brought with us.  That day seemed like a great day then... good friends, beautiful weather, awe inspiring scenery.  Now, i realize that day is priceless.
