

Dr. Richard ("Dick") L. Doyle was born on 10/10/1937 in the Bronx, New York and died 1/12/2015 in La Jolla, California.Valedictorian of Regis High School (1953), he went on to attend Fordham University (1957),and Cornell Medical School, where he received his M.D. in 1961. He married Marilyn Marie Rice in 1960. After his residency at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville,Tennessee, he moved to San Diego to serve as a Navy doctor, then established a private practice in internal medicine. In the 1980s he was Chief of Staff at Mercy Hospital in San Diego. He spent the latter part of his career at Milliman and Robertson, developing a ground-breaking andnow widely used compendium of health management guidelines. A devout Catholic, he was an active and committed member of All Hallows Parish in La Jolla, as a lector, choir member, and Eucharistic minister, among other roles. Dr. Doyle was also a lifelong avid San Francisco Giants fan, and the last baseball game he watched was their victory in the 2014 World Series. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, guided by his Catholic faith. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, and is survived by sons Thomas (Pamela Aden), Owen (Anne d'Halluin) and daughter Helen Yeager (Scott) and grand-children Sean, Paige, Yannick, Ryan, Claire, Jake and William Doyle and Elizabeth and Michael Yeager and by step grand-children Ryan and Hannah Yeager. Memorial Mass will be held at All Hallows Roman Catholic Church 6602 La Jolla Scenic Dr. South, La Jolla, CA 92037 on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 2 PM.Reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in his name to All Hallows Parish or Meals on Wheels.
