

Bob graduated from Iola High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years and established his own business, Callaway Trucking, until his retirement.
Survived by his wife, of 55 years, Eileen, son Kevin Callaway and wife Lisa of Virginia Beach, VA and daughter Robin Smith and husband Danny of San Diego, CA. Grandchildren Kara Callaway-Murden and husband Travis, Kylon Callaway, Samantha Smith and Tanner Smith. Two great grand-children Kayla and Kinsley Murden.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Bob served multiple deployments in the Vietnam War and around the world. Kevin (son), served 33 years in the U.S. Navy and Kylon (grandson) is currently serving in the U.S. Navy. Bob was proud to be the second of four generations of Callaway’s serving the U.S. Navy spanning 80 plus years. Bob was an active member of the American Legion, VFW, Fleet Reserve and Patriot Guard Riders.
In 1966, Bob purchased his first motorcycle and loved riding it across the country with his wife, Eileen. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs, NASCAR (specifically Clint Boyer), Western movies, oatmeal cookies and dogs.
Bob was preceded in death by Roy and Ola Callaway (parents) and Jim Callaway, Betty Sutterby and Dale Callaway (siblings).
Bob will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at Miramar National Cemetery on Jan. 4, 2022 at 10:30 am.
Memorials in honor of Bob can be made to American Legion Post 460.
