After several months of declining health, Servillano P. Avelino, who was 89 years old entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 8, 2021 in Sandy Springs, Georgia. A Korean/Vietnam Veteran, Al served in the Navy for 20 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Following retirement from the Navy, he worked in Civil Service for another 20 years along with other various positions in the private sector.
Al was a proud Navy enthusiast, loving husband, father and grandfather. Al was known for his silent strength, wise counsel, sense of humor and quick wit. He also had a deep appreciation for animals and would often care for stray cats.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Liberty Avelino, his daughters, Judy Lawhead and Robert Lawhead (Son-in-law) and Anna Avelino; grandchildren, Roberto Avelino and wife Marlene Avelino, Ruben Avelino, Daniel Avelino, Alexis Avelino, Robert William Lawhead, Marcus Avelino and Melanie Avelino; great grandchildren Robert Adrian Avelino, Ray Avelino, Hector Gamboa, Jayden Avelino, Brielle Avelino and Robert William Lawhead, Jr; daughters-in-law Lorraine Avelino and Valerie Simpson.
Al is preceded in death by his son, Servillano M. Avelino, Jr., his sisters and parents.
The viewing for Servillano P. Avelino will be held on February 1, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Rose Creek Cottage located at 2525 Garnet Ave, San Diego, CA 92109. Family and
friends are welcome to attend the viewing. Masks are required and strict COVID-19 guidelines will be followed.
Funeral Services will be held at the Miramar National Cemetery immediately after the viewing. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions only immediate family members will be permitted at the funeral site.
