Shirley Ann Caruso

Shirley Ann Caruso of Chula Vista, California, passed away on Monday July 28, 2025, at the age of 89 years old. Shirley was born on March 7, 1936 to Fred and Lucille Elgert in Reynolds Nebraska and spent her younger years growing up in Fairbury Nebraska. Shirley graduated from Fairbury High School in 1954 and on August 26, 1956 married Robert Lee Eaton. The young couple moved to Kansas and started their family. They eventually moved their young family to Imperial Beach CA, later settling in Chula Vista California.

Shirley worked for San Diego Trust and Savings for over 20 years as a Teller and where she had received her Notary License. Born Baptist, she later attended the Catholic Church with her second husband Ben Caruso (who passed away in 2003). Together they enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing and hosting Bunko parties, playing the piano, and being with family and friends. She remained an active member with Elks, Emblems and the Red Hat Society.

Shirley is survived by her two sons: Steven R Eaton of Poway, California (wife Chris) and Kenneth S Eaton of Kalispell, MT (wife Rhonda), eight Grandchildren, sixteen Great Grandchildren, her loving nieces, nephews, and first husband Robert Lee Eaton who remained in good terms with her over the years.

Family and friends will miss her beautiful blue eyes, sense for humor and loving manner.

Knowing she left us with her faith, a smile on her face, joining her everlasting family and maker, will bring us peace and comfort.
