Shirley Etta Spencer

Shirley Etta (Emch) Spencer passed away at her home on July 27, 2024. She was surrounded by her children, some virtually, grandchildren and caregivers. She was born in Toledo Ohio on February 3 1930. Her parents were Clarence John and Etta Minnerva (Mulinix) Emch. She was proceeded in death by her husband Ralph William Spencer and a brother Gary Emch.

She leaves behind her 4 children Lenorajane (John) Moland, Tracy (Neal) Dent, Spence (Lesa) Spencer, Kit E Spencer - 9 Grandchildren - 18 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren and 1 brother Richard Emch.

After she and Ralph married they spent time in the Army and had their first child Lenorajane. After Ralph’s finished his time in the Army they moved back to Toledo and there their second and third children were born, Tracy and Spence. While living in Toledo they built the house on McTide St.

In 1959 they moved to California five years their fourth child Kit E was born. Shirley was a homemaker and raised her their 4 children. She loved gardening, helping Ralph remodel their home, sewing, baking goodies for after school snacks. She loved the outdoors and did a lot of camping and traveling.

After her children were raised she went to work for the Park and Recreation Center

A visitation for Shirley will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM at El Camino Memorial Chapel, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121. A visitation will occur from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 12:00 PM, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 1:00 PM at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121.
