Terry Cassidy, born on October 7th 1955, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 12th after finishing his last day of cancer treatment. Terry was raised by William and Lea Cassidy, with younger sister Lee Ann (Missy), in the Bay Area. In his youth he played football, rode dirt bikes and worked at a horse ranch.
Terry attended Monta Vista High School in Cupertino and college at Santa Clara University. In college Terry met Elise, a fellow student who worked at the language lab on campus. Terry had continual “trouble” with his language tapes, pressing the call button frequently to summon Elise for "help." Also in college, he discovered the Rolling Stones, and over the years he enjoyed seeing them live in concert many times.
Terry graduated from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, and the couple was married in San Diego in 1980. Over the next 8 years, Terry and Elise pursued their dream of having a big family. They settled in Carmichael and found an amazing community of friends at Our Lady of Assumption School and parish. Terry was a patient and kind father to Kevin, Cara, Brian, and Erin. He helped coach sports teams, was Scout master, taught his kids to fish and drive, and shared his positive attitude and love of music with them. During his career, Terry practiced federal and appellate law at the Porter Scott law firm in Sacramento, and had many cases referred to him by counties all over California. He argued two such cases successfully in front of the Supreme Court of the United States, a pinnacle of his legal career.
After retiring, he enjoyed travelling, serving as a board member at Tower Brewing Company, and spending treasured time with his family. He loved playing with his grandkids (who fondly called him “Bear”) and putting together beer or wine tastings for his kids and their spouses. He is survived by his wife and “soulmate” Elise, his son Kevin (wife Tisa) with grandkids North and Adeline, daughter Cara (husband Colin Cavanaugh) with grandkids Elise, Vivian, and Nolan, son Brian (wife Kate), and daughter Erin (husband Zach Todaro) with grandkids Victor and Mary. He is also survived by his sister Lee Ann (Missy) of Redmond, Oregon.
He spent Monday the 11th watching the Giants win, listening to the Rolling Stones, and enjoyed a beautiful sunset in Coronado.
He is beloved and dearly missed.
