AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Ulrike Randolph

20 février 1945 – 22 février 2024
Avis de décès de Ulrike Randolph
AUX SOINS DE

Beardsley-Mitchell Funeral Home

Ulrike “Kiki” Randolph

February 20, 1945 to February 22, 2024

San Diego- Ulrike “Kiki” Randolph, 79, passed away on Thursday February 22.

Kiki was born in Timmendorfer Strand, Germany, and lived most of her life in Hamburg, Germany, where she raised her children with husband and lifelong partner Winni Sczersputowski. She travelled across the world visiting her older sister Sabine and briefly lived in the Washington DC area, married to Arthur Randolph. She moved to San Diego in 2016 to be closer to her husband, son, daughter and granddaughters. She died in her apartment, that she shared with Winni and where he cared for her until her final moments, peacefully in her sleep.

Kiki is survived by her devoted husband and life partner, Winni Sczersputowski, her children Alex Randolph, with husband Trevor Nguyen, and Jana Sczersputowski, with husband Jesse Rowe and granddaughters Savannah Rowe and Amelia Rowe, her brother Hajo Sich, with wife Eva Sich, son Phillip Sich and daughter Pauline Novak, and her sisters Sabine Bisson, with husband Bob Bisson and daughter Charlotte Bruinsma, Veronika Sich-Dinter, with partner Peter Dinter, as well as close family friends Cindy Feliciano, Veronika Schoenfeld, Birgit Hoeppner, and Annika Bubenzer.

Kiki (Mami, Alte Mutter, Granny, Püpchen, Kikchen,) wished to be cremated with her ashes spread under a tree close to her family in San Diego.

For her entire life Kiki endured a long journey of recovery from severe mental illness. She was full of life, yet also filled with pain. She had so much love to give to her family and friends, seeking out creative ways to send loving messages with carefully chosen cards or WhatsApp messages filled with humor and emojis. Her humor, often on the quirky side, made her the life of the party.

Kiki devoured books and always knew the right one to give as a present for special occasions. Throughout her life she collected antiques and had a story to tell about each of her cherished pieces. She had a gift for creating beautiful spaces and will be remembered for her creativity, arranging rooms and flowers and earlier in her life as a graphic designer. Kiki always knew how to spot talent and become a trend-setter, especially with her sense for fashion. One of her fondest memories was being witness to the Beatles’ first concert in Hamburg before they became a household name. That is probably also where she learned to dance and share her love for music.

Although she was filled with longing for her old home in Hamburg, Germany, she had found happy memories here in San Diego with her family, especially enjoying the occasional treat of fresh oysters, sitting at the dining table or balcony with Winni, dinners at the German restaurant, ham and cheese croissants (triple toasted), phone calls and text exchanges with her family and friends, Chinese Soup and laughter with her friend Cindy. Somehow, anywhere she went in her neighborhood, people knew her by name. The one thing she loved the most was Winni’s famous Christmas goose (the crispier skin the better) and the lamb chops he prepared with love.

A few months before her death she had managed to travel to the East Coast for a family reunion, a treasured memory, and a few days before she died she enjoyed mail, presents and conversations with all her family and friends for her 79th birthday. One of her last sentiments was that life wasn’t so bad and she felt loved.

There are so many memories and the ones we shared here are just a fraction of the ways she touched our lives. We hope you will join in sharing your own.
