Mrs. Valentina Vaysman (born Reznikova), born on October 2, 1943, in Russia, passed away on April 23, 2025, in San Diego, California, surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. Her vitality and instinct for survival were exceptional, but, eventually, they gave way to a number of illnesses.
Valentina was born in the midst of World War II, in the place and time of the cruel, uncompromising and even surreal reality. Her sheer survival must be viewed as a miracle.
From the age of 20, in 1963, until her emigration in 1993, Valentina worked as a nurse (RN) in the town of Sholokhovskiy, Rostov-on-Don region of Russia. After the family immigrated to the USA and settled in Queens, New York, she worked as a Home Health Aid until her final retirement when she was helping with the grandkids.
Amongst her talents, she was a beautiful singer and dancer with a love for Russian folk songs. Her last song was sung on the day of her passing.
Valentina is survived by her husband, Dr. Yuliy Vaysman, two daughters, Ella with her husband Michael Romm and Zhanna with her husband Martin Cohen; and five grandchildren. Several family members chose the medical field as their profession.
The entire family will miss her and keep all the good memories for the rest of our days.
In addition, her older daughter, Ella, wrote a book “Who Is Her Father? A Child of WW2” about Valentina’s birth story, available on Amazon.com.
