

Vernon was born on November 19, 1950 to the late Vernon F Tydings, Sr. and Alvina A. Tydings (Andrysiak) in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating from Overlea High School in 1968, he went on to study at Virginia Tech. After college, he landed his first job at Esskay Meats, kicking off a long-time career in transportation/logistics. He was passionate about practicing his faith, and he was equally enthusiastic about the game of golf. He enjoyed a lifetime friendship with his Virginia Tech family. Vernon was a loving person who will be kindly remembered and missed by all.
Dedicated husband to Barbara D. Early; loving brother of Thomas R. Tydings and his wife Janice, and Betty Gaye Herr and husband Girvin; devoted father to Vernon F. Tydings, III and his wife Julissa, and Amanda T. Peñafiel and her husband Rodolfo; wonderful grandfather of Vernon IV, Sebastian, Andrew and Gabriella; also survived by Robert and James Early and many nieces, nephews and friends.
