I will always remember your genuine hugs and asking how I been and I should come around more often. Well grandpa Willy I sure do regret not visiting more and will miss alot. Not only you showed but always made us feel like you really missed seeing us all the time. I loved how you and grandma Thelma loved the kids like they were your own grandkids. I always tell mom how genuinely nice you, grandma Thema, grandma Jessie and aunties were. Heaven definitely gained a true angel because here you were an angel as well on earth. You will never be forgotten Grandpa Willy, keep dancing. We love you for eternity.

I love your parents, I love your dad.  I remember when we were kids, we didn't have a lot, my parents were always working.  After school, I was always with you, Claire, we would walk to your house and hang out.  Your dad would always give me a ride home everytime.  It seems so small, but that made a huge impact on me.  Now, as a parent, I make it a point to do the same any time my kid's friends need a ride home.  

Your dad was such a wonderful person, he always had something good to say.  I met him when I was 17 and he was the first one of the family that I met.  He would always come to visit me whenever he could.  Your dad was a remarkable human, his death is a big loss for our family.

Uncle Willy was such a strong swimmer.  He would get all of us cousins on his back and swim us underwater back and forth across the pool.  Because of him, I do that with my kids.

I always thought he was the fun uncle, dancing with his ladies, laughing and joking... You could always see the love he had for his daughters.  

He was the pioneerof the family...he was the first one to come to the US.  He petitioned for Popsi to come to the US and then Popsi petitioned the rest of us to come over; It was because of him that we were able to.

I'm sure he's in a better place now, dancing to Bruno Mars with Elvis and enjoying an eternal all-you-can-eat Navy mess hall buffet full of all his greasy American favorites...and maybe some chicken embryos.  

He used to quiz me on my space and physics facts...he never confirmed if I passed or failed.  

I was very young and your dad would send gifts to my uncle and auntie every month with his navy pictures.  I would bring his picture to school and pretend to drop it, I wanted everyone to at school to see I had a brother in the US Navy.  

When your dad would come home to visit, I would get so excited, one time I fell down a ladder going to greet him.

When we were dating, we wouldn't even finish one drink...all of a sudden, we hear the music and we're on the dance floor all night long.  

He was the coolest and kindest man to me.

He lived his best life!  Always smiling!  

He was always the life of the party.  He would sing, dance, he tells jokes and he's funny... him and Uncle Butch, even if it was just us, they would make the party.  

When he came home it was always a surprise but everyone would know because he would bring records from the states and the whole block would come alive...music blasting and us dancing in the streets.

We would go off just the two of us together, we would climb the trees to pick fruit.  There was a time we were on a branch, it broke and we fell from high up.  Luckily, we did not get hurt that time, Willy got right back up and climbed another tree.  He was so fearless and adventurous.   Him and I would go out fishing and swimming in the river.  Your dad was such a strong swimmer, he would swim back and forth against the current and I would try to follow him but I couldn't.

  


My cousin Willy was a great dancer.  At our Camarilla parties good looking as he is all the girls wanted to have a dance or two with him. He is a devoted and loving son always cheerful with that infectious smile. The Camarilla barkada missed him when he joined the US Navy. That was when my sister Connie immigrated to the States. They connected along with the Torres family where they spent holidays with them. Uncle Emil Torres is the son of Rufo Torres the brother of my grandmother Agustina Torres Vargas. They never lost touch since then with frequent visits to San Diego along with Butch Baldomero his bosom friend. Butch provided music at all Willy's parties and gatherings.
