Bonnie Jean was a wife, best friend, partner, mom, paralegal in a law firm, and owner of the best job in San Francisco: City Cats. She loved San Francisco. She avidly supported its teams and read the San Francisco Chronicle daily. Frequently she would cut out articles to share with family and friends. Her communication with friends and family was frequent. She had a knack for picking out the most unique greeting cards. You knew it came from Bonnie when you saw her beautiful handwriting, a lost art today.
She was a great cook and avid reader. Bonnie and her friends would talk about sports, world topics, politics, music, cats, books, family, nature, TV/movie entertainment, and all the news.
She leaves behind her son Don Ulman and his wife Lavetta. Her stepson Tom Brookshire and his wife Diana Saylor were loving helpers and friends until the very end. They even discovered Bonnie’s love of music was still present in her last hours.
She is also survived by her sister, Sharon Lentz Sykes.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Margaret Daily; 2 brothers, Greg and Michael Lentz; her husband William Ulman; 2 sons, Billy and Geoff Ulman; and the most significant love of her life, Jerry Brookshire whom she spent the last half of her life with. She and Jerry literally made music, listened to music, enjoyed life to its fullest, and loved each other with a joy and zest like no other. I think everyone who knew them as a couple smile when a past memory comes to mind.
Bonnie asked that there be no services for her, but she did ask for a few more things from her friends: “Please remember a good time we shared. Laugh hard. Smile often. Enjoy life.”
So many people loved Bonnie Jean.
We will all miss her dearly.
