Brian Keith Mullins passed away peacefully at his home in San Francisco, California on the morning of June 9th, 2024.
Brian was born in Palo Alto, California on February 17, 1965 to Marilyn A. Lindsey and Richard F. Mullins. Brian grew up on the West Coast and developed his love of technology, particularly computer hardware, early in life. As a young adult, he was an entrepreneur and a world traveler – always enticed by the next big idea. In the late 1980s, as part of some extended travels in Asia and Australia, Brian spent a year in Japan. He learned the Japanese language and forged a life-long connection with Japanese culture. Brian had a passion for science fiction, strategy games like Chess & Risk, and maintained a Dungeons & Dragons role playing game with a close-knit circle of friends for decades. He had a gregarious spirit, a love of life, and a kind soul that endured throughout life’s ups and downs. Brian was a San Franciscan through and through, having family connections there from the 1970s onward, and himself residing in the city for more than 30 years.
Brian lived his life on his own terms, and left this earth with a deep love for family and friends. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing that Brian is at peace. Brian is survived by his mother Marilyn, his brother Jeff, his sister Kathryn, and his dear friend and former wife Kyoko. He was preceded in death by his father Richard.
In honor of Brian’s love for San Francisco, his ashes will be scattered in the San Francisco Bay during a ceremony attended by family and close friends. A celebration of life will be held for Brian in San Francisco in late July, with more details to come.
