

Born on November 6, 1929, in San Francisco, California to Frank and Yee Shee Eng, Dr. Ng graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and subsequently earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of California, Davis. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and went on to have a distinguished career as a food scientist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In 1957, he married his sweetheart Betty, and the couple later settled in San Francisco, where they raised their five children.
Following his retirement, Dr. Ng remained active by managing several properties throughout the Bay Area, participating in music programs at the senior center, and spending time with his family. He was a lifelong learner who remained intrigued by science magazines and educational programs. He was also a devoted fan of the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, and the Golden State Warriors.
Dr. Ng is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Betty; his children Jennifer (Elias), Daniel (Teresa), Nancy (Ian), Vanessa (predeceased) and Kenneth (Flavia), five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of siblings-in-law and nieces and nephews. He will be missed and remembered with love and admiration by all who knew him.
Visitation Hour will be held at Green Street Mortuary on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 4:00-5:00 pm.
Funeral will be held at Green Street Mortuary on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 12:00 pm, followed by a graveside service at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
