Janet grew up an Army brat living across United States and Panama. She received both a BA and MBA from University of Southern California with doctoral studies at University of Georgia. She also served as an officer in the United States Navy and worked for the Federal Reserve Bank along with other financial institutions before entering academia. For over 30 years, she remained active in real estate education and research teaching at universities in Georgia, Kentucky, Texas, California, New Zealand and Australia.
After retirement, Janet became a political and senior advocate in San Francisco with awards from the Board of Supervisors and Mayor's Office. She was also an ardent genealogist and passionate USC Trojan football fan. Her final passion was following her beloved food trucks online with Circle the WagonsSF.
Janet is survived by daughter Cathleen and extended family in California and Tennessee and amazing friends around the world. Her ashes were scattered in the San Francisco Bay with an amazing view of the city she called home. A scholarship has been set up in her name benefiting the incubator program at La Cocina: https://www.lacocinasf.org
