She attended Hoy Sun High School. In 1946 her mother and a matchmaker arranged a marriage for her to Yee Fook Wing who was assigned to China while serving in the US Army Air Force.
As a war bride she moved to Boston, Massachusetts where the family operated a laundry business. Although all her children were born in Boston, she raised them in Brookline, Massachusetts. In 1964 she moved to San Francisco. The rest of her family joined her in 1965. While in San Francisco she worked as a grocery store clerk, a food preparer, and a hotel housekeeper retiring in 1991. In retirement she moved from a home in the Eureka Valley district to a condo in San Francisco's Chinatown where she could conveniently do her own shopping on foot. She enjoyed participating in community activities around the Chinatown area-the Hoy Sun High School Alumni Association, the Cantonese Women's Group at Betty Ann Ong Chinese Recreation Center, and the Community Tenants Association.
She lived independently until July 2021 when she fell down on Stockton Street while shopping. The family provided 24/7 care for her after that in her own home. Her health gradually declined during the last couple of years until she suffered a cardiac arrest on December 17, 2022.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses:
Janet (Rodney), Matthew, Gordon (Janice), and Rowland (Lendy);
five grandchildren and their spouses: Albie (Karen), Jason (Rose), Kathryn, Christopher, and Briana; and four great grandchildren Landon, Ethan, Elyse, and Jonathan.
