March 29, 1943 - December 27, 2023
Juanita “Pinky” Murray, age 80, passed away on December 27, 2023 in San Francisco, California. She was born in 1943 in Gary, Indiana. Pinky was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul. She is survived by her son Tony, daughter-in-law Aileen, and granddaughter Lee.
Given the nickname Pinky when she was still a baby, she grew up in the town of Hobart, Indiana. Upon tying the knot with her beloved husband, Paul, she relocated to Norfolk, Virginia, accompanying him during his service in the U.S. Navy. This period in her life was a trove of cherished memories, often reflected upon with joy. She fondly recalled their house on the beach where she would fall asleep every night to the sound of the ocean.
In Chesterton, Indiana, Pinky established deep roots as a dedicated bus driver for the local school corporation - a role that brought her immense pride. She formed profound connections with the families of the children entrusted to her care. Simultaneously, her civic spirit shone through as an active participant in the community, notably contributing her time and passion to the town park board for numerous years. Following the loss of her husband, she embarked on a new chapter in San Francisco, joining her son and daughter-in-law.
For fun, she loved doing the upholstery on vintage automobiles her husband would restore, line dancing with her friends, gardening, and in later years spending time with her granddaughter.
Memorial service will be 11:00 am on February 2, 2024 at the San Francisco Columbarium. 1 Loraine Court, San Francisco, California 94118.
