June was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Edward Martin Sr.; his mother, Verdell Chineta Martin; his son, Quincy Funderburke; and his sister, Sharon Martin.
Born and raised in Bassett, Virginia, June grew up alongside his five siblings, forming bonds that would last a lifetime. He later spent 45 years of his life in San Francisco, where he built his legacy and created countless memories.
June was a man who believed in taking life into his own hands and living it to the fullest. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication, retiring as a Teamster Representative for a well-known logistics company. Outside of his work, June had a passion for the finer things in life—he took pride in his appearance, loved shopping, and had an eye for style and personal upkeep.
As one of the few men in his family, June was deeply loved, cherished, and held in high regard by his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters: Karen Bell (Irvin) and Patria Wicks, both of Kings Mountain, NC; Vonya Toms (Dwight) of Dallas, TX; and Sherona Daniels (Walter) of Shelby, NC. He is also survived by twelve nieces, one nephew, nineteen great-nieces, three great-nephews, and one great-great niece along with a host of cousins and dear friends who loved him deeply.
In accordance with June’s wishes, and with the approval of his living siblings, he will be cremated and his remains will be spread over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, a place that meant so much to him.
A memorial service celebrating June’s life will be announced by his family at a later time.
June’s presence, love, and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
