San Francisco’s most colorful rock and roller, Lucrecia Fontes, died on June 19, 2023 surrounded by friends, family and the music of her all time favorite band, The Rolling Stones.
She was 89 years young.
Lucrecia was born in Puerto Cortes Honduras. She came to the United States after high school, and called San Francisco her home for over 60 years. Always filled with a passion for music and the wonder of travel, Lucrecia made friends from around the world and was committed to staying in touch with all the wonderful people she met along the way. She remained curious and engaged with the world, and had many highlights in her full life including meeting and marrying the love of her life, Lawrence Fontes, attending the inauguration of President Barack Obama, and being featured in a coffee table book about the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Lucrecia was a dedicated usher at many San Francisco venues, especially the Warfield, where she delighted in the community of music lovers from all walks of life. Lucrecia prided herself on being independent, bold, honest and rock and roll until the end. She will be remembered for her luminous smile and her love of life.
She is survived by nieces Myrna Zialcita, Norma Kilaouy, Jackie Medina and nephew Ramon Melara Jr. and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She will be missed and is forever in our hearts.
