Marie Sophia Harrington

Marie Sophia Harrington, 1924 - 2015 passed away peacefully at home March 6, 2015 surrounded by her family. Loving wife of John for 65 years, devoted mother of Michael (Barbara), Kathleen, Jeffrey, and Kim (Gregg), beloved daughter of the late Fred and Mary Schnell, sister of the late Fred Schnell, adored Noni of Lynn (Chris), Kristin, Brian (Laura), Michael John (Jordyn), and Anne, Great Noni of John, Tony, Emerson, Elise, Henry and Nathaniel, treasured aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Marie was a native San Franciscan and a lifelong resident of North Beach. She was a graduate and proud alumni of Presentation High School. Marie enjoyed a long career at the Emporium and still found time to volunteer at Sts Peter and Paul School as well as the Salesian Boys & Girls Club for 45 years. Following her retirement she actively supported and volunteered at St Anthony's Dining Room for 18 years. Eternally optimistic and posessing an unshakeable faith in God, Marie touched the lives of generations of children and neighbors in North Beach.

A memorial mass will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Church on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 10:00 am. Donations in Marie's memory may be made to the Salesian Boys and Girls Club, 680 Filbert Street, San Francisco, CA 94133 or St. Anthony's Dining Room, 121 Golden Gate Ave., San Francisco, CA 94102.
