

Maurice passed away peacefully at home in San Francisco on May 13, 2015. Maurice was born in Guang Dong, China on June 13, 1922. He came to San Francisco in 1934. He attended Francisco Jr High School and Berkeley High School. In his youth, Maurice was very involved with the Chinatown YMCA (The Tigers) where he met several of his lifelong friends.
Maurice served in the Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was an airplane engine mechanic and attained the rank of sergeant. Upon his discharge, he returned to San Francisco and began working as an aeronautical engineering draftsman at Alameda Naval Air Station for the Navy for 35 years and retired in 1980.
In his youth, Maurice played and excelled in sports, especially track and basketball, and continued his passion for sports throughout his life. He also loved traveling and getting together with his friends especially The Wednesday Lunch Group. He was a humble, soft spoken, hard working individual who had many friends.
Maurice was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family meant everything to him. He was married to his beloved Amy for 61 years. Maurice is survived by his son, Kelvin; daughter-in-law, Charlotte; grandchildren, Justin and Leslie; sisters-in-law, Lil and Ruby; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be missed by all. Maurice was preceded in death by Amy and his two older sisters.
A funeral service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 10:00 am at Halsted N. Gray-Carew & English, 1123 Sutter St, San Francisco, followed by interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Colma.
