

Born December 4, 1937, in Milwaukee, WS, Bob was the son of Robert Harry Klett and Ruth
Louise Klett. He spent his childhood in the Chicago area and Augusta, GA.
Bob was a graduate of Richmond Academy High School in Augusta , GA. He studied
chemical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating in 1959. He also
received a MS and a Phd in chemical engineering from Georgia Tech.
Bob married Linda Jones of Albany, Georgia, in 1964. He is survived by Linda, his brother
Michael (Sylvia), his nephew Rob M. Klett (Nazia), grand niece Farah Klett, grand nephew
Miles Klett, nephew John Vaiden, grand nephew Jacob Vaiden and niece Ruth Vaiden.
Bob joined Chevron in 1965, where he worked in Process Design. During his 31 year career he
received numerous patents and led a large group of engineers who thought he was the "best
boss ever." He retired in 1998. He loved to traveland took many trips to Asia, Europe and
Africa. In his youth he was an avid Boy Scout and earned an Eagle Scout badge.
In San Francisco he enjoyed city life and had season tickets for the SF Opera, SF Ballet and
SF Symphony for over 45 years. He had a keen interest in Wagner's Ring Cycle and he and
Linda traveled to Seattle for all of their Ring performances.
A memorial gathering will be scheduled for the fall. The family suggests donations in Bob's
memory to the San Francisco Opera, the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco Ballet,
or to an organization of the donor's choice.
