Dwayne Patrick Melvin, 79, was called home after a year long battle with cancer.
He was surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, daughters Dawn, Dana (Bruce Wexler), son Michael (Aida),
and grandchildren Michelle, Deborah (Edward Cuddihy), Megan, Ashley, and Carmeline.
A long time resident of Rosemead, CA, Dwayne was born in Los Angeles on March 31, 1935 and lived in Long Beach as a child.
He proudly served the United States as a member of the Army from 1958 to 1960.
He was a hard working man who always put his family first.
He was active at St. Luke's Catholic Church as an usher, Stephens Minister, Parish Pastoral Council, St. Vincent DePaul,
Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He will be remembered by all who knew as a very caring man who loved life and lived life to the fullest.
The Melvin family wishes to express deep gratitude to the entire staff of Vitas.
This situation would have been infinitely more difficult had it not been for their kind and expert care.
We also would like to give a special thanks to his personal caregiver, Maria Lopez.
You all will always be in our hearts.
