Our Queen Remembered
Sunanda Chaudhuri was born on February 1, 1952, in Dibrugarh, Assam, India, the first-born child
of Sabitri and Dr. Nishi Ranjan Kar. She was later joined by her beloved younger brothers, Bishwajit
and Nabarun, to whom she remained a devoted and doting elder sister throughout her life.
Raised in Uttar Pradesh, where her father served as a physician in the provincial medical service,
Sunanda pursued an exceptional academic path, ultimately earning multiple Master's degrees. In
1977, she married Dr. Kali Pradip Chaudhuri in Kolkata, and together they relocated to Hemet,
California, in the 1980s.
In California, Sunanda was initially a housewife before becoming an administrator of multispecialty
groups and clinics, where she played a vital role in their formation and management. She eventually
rose to the position of Vice Chairman of The KPC Group. Her leadership inspired thousands of KPC
employees and associates around the world.
Beyond her professional achievements, Sunanda was a mentor to many and quietly supported
numerous philanthropic causes—always giving without seeking recognition.
She had an eye for elegance, a love for poetry and classical music, and a quiet but profound
strength that uplifted everyone around her. Guided by her deep spiritual values and unwavering
commitment to family, Sunanda exemplified resilience, humility, and compassion in all aspects of
her life.
Above all, Sunanda was an endlessly loving mother to her two children, Kali Priyo Chaudhuri and
Dr. Sumanta Chaudhuri Saini, and a proud grandmother to six grandchildren—including two sets of
twins: Ananta and Satya (8), Karina (8), Prishant and Kamala (6), and Sarojini (1).
As the revered matriarch of the extensive Chaudhuri clan, Sunanda leaves behind a legacy of grace,
wisdom, and warmth. She will forever be remembered as a Queen-like presence—radiant with
patience, love, and an unshakable strength that continues to live on in the hearts of all who knew
her.
Though she is no longer with us, her presence continues to illuminate our lives—through the values
she lived by, the love she gave, and the family she built.
Hari Om Shanti
