

Allen Bailey Chase, a longtime resident of San Jose, California, was born on July8, 1932, in San Francisco, California. He passed away peacefully on the morning of January 9, 2025, at the age of 92. Raised in San Francisco, Allen lost his father, George at a young age and was raised by his mother, Elizabeth Gwendolyn Chase. He attended St. Ignatius High School in San Francisco before earning his degree in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California. Allen was married to his wife, Jacqueline Estelle Chase, for 53 wonderful years. Together, they raised ve children: Mark, Pamela, Alison, Kimberly, and Treacy. He was cherished by his six grandchildren—Anna, Joey, Jared, Kelly, Adrienne, and Kevin—and by his three great-grandchildren, Arlo, Remi, and Cameron. Allen had a passion for the outdoors, finding joy in shing, camping, sailing, and biking. Known for his sharp intellect, he loved solving crossword puzzles, reading, playing bridge, and mastering chess. He was one of the original 49er faithfuls. Allen was also a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Army as a 1st lieutenant. A graveside ceremony will be held in his honor on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, located at 490 Lincoln Street, Santa Clara, California.
