Andy Tran Loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Regional Hospital in San Jose, California. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Andy is survived by his wife, five children, and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Tran was born in Long Vinh, Vietnam, to parents Hong Tran and My Tai Lam. Andy lost his parents at a young age and had to learn to take care of himself. He grew up with his uncle’s family in Ben Tre. As a young man he loved to work with his hands which led him to attend Electrical School in Saigon.
While working as an Electrician, he wanted to give back to his country, so he joined the South Vietnam Military. We believe it was fate that brought him to the small town of My Long, VN. There he met the beautiful Hoa Huynh, his future wife. Andy and Hoa fell in love and married in 1970. They had five children: Darlene, Danny, Yvonne, Trinh and Nhan. Together they tried to give their children everything they needed to be successful in life. Andy could see that if they stayed in Vietnam his family would not have a chance to prosper.
In 1985, Mr. Tran made the tough decision to leave his home country with Darlene and Danny. Knowing that he would find a better life for his family in the United States, to do this, he had to leave his wife and three youngest children behind. After five years apart, Andy’s family was reunited in San Jose California.
If you ask anyone who knew Andy, what kind of man he was, they would all say that he was a family man. He worked nonstop his entire life to provide for his family. Andy was determined to give his children the things that he did not have growing up. Andy was resourceful, persistent, stubborn and detail oriented, in his spare time he loved to tinker. He also had a passion for working on cars and tackling home improvement projects big and small.
A Memorial Service will be hosted on Thursday, May 5, 2022, starting at 12 PM to 6:30 PM, in the Sunshine Chapel.
