Angelo Robert Caputo (Bob), born June 4, 1936, in Schenectady, N.Y., to Angelo and Amalia Caputo. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, brother-in-law, father-in-law, grandfather, and uncle. Those who knew him during the past 50 years saw a man who loved Jesus and was always praising the Lord.
Bob graduated from Draper High School in Schenectady, N.Y. He was employed with General Electric in New York and California for 32 years, then spent 8 years at FMC working on the Bradley tank. In his last few years, before fully retiring, he went back to his roots as a machinist in a small mom and pop shop near his home in San Jose.
Bob married the love of his life, Delores Mancini, in Amsterdam, N.Y., on August 3, 1958. They moved back and forth between Schenectady and San Jose, California, for a number of years, finally settling in San Jose.
Bob enjoyed golfing, bowling, and doing crossword puzzles. However, his true avocation was cooking. He was the one always making the big Italian dinner with Dee by his side. Everyone knew him for his meatballs and sauce. He learned this skill from his mom, Amalia. He and Dee were a team in the kitchen, always having more than enough food, as well as having an open door for anyone who wanted to share a holiday meal.
Bob gave his life to Jesus and always had his Bible by his side, sharing Jesus with anyone who would listen. Bob and Dee made a lifelong commitment to the Calvary Chapel churches in San Jose and Gilroy, California. Bob had a powerful voice, and he loved to harmonize. He was always in the choir at the Catholic church that he attended from the time he was a young man into his adulthood. When he started attending Calvary San Jose, he took every opportunity to join the holiday choirs, and was always asked to help with worship at the Men’s studies and small group fellowships.
Bob leaves a legacy of loved ones: the love of his life, Delores Mancini Caputo, his children -Christine [Frank] Faria, Robert (Terry) Caputo, Christopher (Justin) Caputo, and Celeste (Frederic) Caputo. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Most of all, he leaves a spiritual legacy with all the lives he has touched with the love of Jesus. He will be missed, but we know he is in heaven, “Praising the Lord! Hallelujah!”
