Arnold Richard Cosio Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 18, 2023. He joins his heavenly family and is reunited with his beloved father Richard. Arnold was born on January 21, 1963 just four minutes before his twin brother and other half – Albert. Growing up Arnold played football and baseball, was an excellent speller and enjoyed family camping trips with his siblings.
Arnold grew up to have five children and seven grandchildren of his own. Arnold dedicated his time to his children and grandchildren- taking day trips to Santa Cruz, renting a hotel room for a day of swimming, and planning family getaways. He would often rally a group of the kids for a trip to the drive-ins or a Sunday adventure to all the neighborhood garage sales and was never too busy for a quick Target or 7-Eleven run. Arnold was famous for that special phone call on a bad day and the late-night binge of Gravity Falls. He was everyone’s biggest cheerleader- attending every dance performance with flowers in hand and cheering the loudest at every high school football and baseball game. He enjoyed watching Peppa Pig and going on Dollar Tree shopping sprees with his youngest grandchildren.
To his mother Wilma- he was a loving son who spoiled her and made the best homemade sandwiches. Arnold was part of a Texas Hold’em poker league and always down for a family game of Scrabble- he was often crowned the champion of both. He enjoyed family fishing outings and was the best flea market companion and salesman. Arnold never missed a family celebration and was always the first person to arrive- he spoiled his family on birthdays, holidays and graduations and currently holds the record for the best Cosio family secret Santa gift- buying his nephew the entire fishing section of Big 5. Arnold never hesitated to provide pickup and drop offs to any celebration and was great company along the way. He was the life of every party and never failed to make people feel welcome and was always so kind-hearted to newcomers.
Arnold loved sweets- some of his favorites were red Tootsie Pops, cherry Hostess pies, Twinkies, HoHo’s and lemon cake. Anyone who knew Arnold knew he was always the best dressed and best smelling- he had a love for shoes and cologne. In his personal free time Arnold loved cheering on the Giants and 49ers, singing along to the Voice and shouting out answers to Family Feud. In addition to all of this- Arnold loved people and he had a caring heart. It hurt him to see other people in pain and was always there to uplift people. He worked as a dialysis patient driver and found joy out of helping others and established many personal bonds with his regulars. Arnold also worked as an Uber driver and was given large cash tips- demonstrating his ability to positively impact everyone he encountered.
Arnold was a strong person and fighter— he battled illness throughout his life and in 2019 underwent a heart transplant. He always trusted God along the way and overcame several long recovery periods throughout his health journey. He never complained and always remained joyful in spirit. Arnold dedicated his life to his family- he will be dearly missed and the memories we have of him will always be cherished.
