Benny Gosal

Benny Gosal, also known as Goeij Boen Tjiok, was born to Goeij Tjin Hiang and Thio Tjhun Lie, on November 4, 1946 in Samarinda, Indonesia. He passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2024 at home at the age of 77.

Benny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Born to immigrants from China, Benny’s life was a testament to hard work and resilience. He spent nearly all of his life as an entrepreneur in Jakarta, Indonesia. He highly valued education and sent his three children to study abroad at young ages. He loved swimming, watching movies, traveling, eating out, and nothing brought him more joy than simply spending time with his family. He had traveled with his wife and his family to many countries around the world, with China as his favorite country which he visited many times. In 2015, he and his wife moved and settled in San Jose, California to be closer to his three children and family.

Benny is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rosita, his three children, Jenny (Kevin), Yunita (Desmond), and Jeffry (Amy), and six grandchildren Gavin, Emma, Symone, Avery, Saige, and Dexton. He is also survived by his siblings Budiharto Gunawan, Antonius Lee Goeij, Goeij Po Sang, Willy Gosal, and Yohannes Gosal, along with numerous nieces and nephews who love and respect him.

The family will host the following events at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park (300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA):

- Friday, March 22, 2024 - visitation starting at 4:00 p.m. with Rosary service at 6:00 p.m.

- Saturday, March 23, 2024 - final viewing at 9:00 a.m. with funeral service at 10:00 a.m. and cremation at 11:30 a.m.

A Celebration of Life lunch will follow at 1:00 p.m. at one of his favorite restaurants, Maggiano’s Little Italy (3055 Olin Ave Suite 1000, San Jose, CA). RSVP Required.
