Carl Jay Dillwood

Carl was born in San Jose on December 17, 1949. He graduated from Willow Glen High School, Class of 1968 and continued on to receive a Doctor of Pharmacy from University of the Pacific School of Pharmacy in Stockton, CA, Class of 1973.

Carl worked as a Pharmacist for several pharmacies in San Jose and the peninsula for 40 years, retiring from Safeway several years ago. A true child of the 50’s, Carl enjoyed television, rock and roll/pop music and board games. For several years, Carl made stained glass panels which are treasured by those who received them as gifts. In his later years, he really enjoyed Sudoku puzzles and playing with his beloved cats. He was also an alumni member of the Kappa Psi pharmacy fraternity, and enjoyed getting together with his fraternity brothers.erro

Carl is survived by his brothers David (Katy) Dillwood of Santa Rosa, and Kevin Dillwood of San Jose, his niece Bonnie (Lafe) Redd and Bonnie’s two daughters Marie and Ella, his nephew Michael Dillwood and Michael’s son Leo Dillwood, his nephew Matthew Dillwood and his niece Mary-Louisa Dillwood, his brother-in-law John Havens and other family and friends.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents Claude and Eleanor Dillwood, and his beloved sister, Karen Havens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society, or the Humane Society. Carl’s family wishes to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice Services and his other caregivers for their patient assistance and care at home.
