Diane "Lucy" Barreda

Diane “Lucy” Vidal Barreda, aged 66, of Sacramento, California, passed away on September 14, 2023. She is survived by her daughter Monica Barreda, granddaughter Mariah Barreda, grandson Rafael Barreda, sister Melba Barreda, nephew Benito Barreda (Elaine) and family, brother David Barreda (Sarah) and family, brother Manuel Barreda (Sabrina) and family, and is predeceased by her parents Clemente Sainz Barreda and Petra Vidal Barreda, and her sister Marta Barreda.

Lucy was born in Tucson, Arizona and grew up in San Jose, California where she attended Mt. Pleasant High School. She loved gardening, crocheting, and embroidering. Lucy used to love playing softball with her sister Melba. She spoke of it often, and said that’s why her calf muscles were so big from being a catcher. She also loved to dance and was part of Moose Lodge for a while.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and participating in their school activities, as well as volunteering her assistance to their teachers. Lucy enjoyed sharing moments with friends and catching up. She was witty and always had a sarcastic comeback, and her laugh was unforgettable. She was the type of person that gave help when and where she could to the best of her ability and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services will be held at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel (710 Willow Street, San Jose, CA 95125) on October 3, 2023 with a visitation at 10am and a funeral at 11am before burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery (2650 Madden Ave, San Jose, CA 95116) at 12:30pm, all are welcome.
