

Ernesto C. Hernaez was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Ernesto will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
He was the son of Jesus and Consolacion. Ernesto was born in Piddig, Ilocos Norte, Phillipines. He grew up in Piddig.
Ernesto was raised with ten siblings named Linda, Maring, Vicky, Conchita, Hinden, Jessie, Bonie, Chester, Marcia, and Mariquita. Ernesto was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
On April 1, 1967 Ernesto exchanged wedding vows with Candida Santiago at Pagasinan City Hall in Pangasinan, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Ernesto was committed to making his new family happy.
Ernesto worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Ernesto was blessed with five children, three sons, Leo, Vincent, and Nicky, and two daughters, Rose and Vanessa. Another blessing for Ernesto was the gift of ten grandchildren, Nicole, Jim, Danielle, Chester, Janlei, EP, Venice, Louis, Mariz, and Merloin.
Fortunately, Ernesto enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Ernesto worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was as a steward. He was employed for 10 years at the Hyatt Hotel. Ernesto always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Ernesto found pleasure in sports. In high school, Ernesto played basketball. Ernesto was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so.
Ernesto enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included Hawaii, Vegas, LA, and the Philippines.
Ernesto was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Blacky, a dog. They were best friends for 4 years.
When Ernesto’s retirement finally arrived in 2005, he was well prepared. His new life involved remaining in San Jose, California. In retirement, he found new pleasure in taking care of his grandchildren. Even in retirement, Ernesto continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Ernesto was active in his new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered him.
Ernesto passed away at home in San Jose, California. He is survived by his children Rose, Leo, Vincent, Vanessa, and Nicky; his grandchildren; his brother Jessie; and his sisters Vicky, Linda, Conchita, Mariquita, and Marcia. Services were held at Oak Hill Funeral Home in San Jose, California. Ernesto was laid to rest in at Don Salustland Memorial Cemetery in the Philippines.
Simply stated, Ernesto was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Ernesto leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Ernesto C. Hernaez.
