

Born August 6, 1933, passed away on June 1, 2015 in San Jose, CA. He was born in Gustine, CA to Millie and Frank Fasano. Gene graduated from Gustine High School and then joined the U.S. Navy where he served in the Korean War for four years as a communications telegraph specialist. He then graduated from Fresno State University with an accounting degree and briefly returned back to Gustine where he married the love of his life Lillian Marshall. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Gene and Lillian eventually settled in the Bay Area where he had a 40 year career at John Hancock Life Insurance. He also helped popularize soccer in the Bay Area and spent 3 years as the marketing director for the San Jose Earthquakes when they launched professional soccer in the U.S., and he was on the founding board of the Almaden Valley Soccer League. After retiring from John Hancock, Gene started Golf Heaven and built a thriving business where he was very well known among avid golfers from all over the world. In 1958, Gene started a fun family tradition competing in the Calaveras County Frog Jump, helping win 5 world championships with the Gustine Frog Team. He was a volunteer for the "Play It Safe" program dedicated to educating children about safety. Some of his loves included playing Pedro, Craps, Poker, Boxing, but most of all he loved his family and grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Lillian and two sons, Bob (Alma) and Frank (Lisa), and his grandchildren, Joseph, Amanda, Justin, Gabby, Lucy, and by his three sisters Dolly Santos, Jeanette Green, and Elaine Fasano.
