Born in Gilbert, Arizona, Frances moved to San Jose as a child with her beloved mother, Mary Benitez, and her younger brothers Ralph, Robert, and Fred Benitez. Later, they were blessed with a cherished sister, Dolores Geniz.
Frances attended James Lick High School and went on to enjoy a long and fulfilling career as a secretary, retiring from the San Jose Unified School District. As a teenager, she met the love of her life, Arturo C. Lopez, at a local community dance. Together, “Art & Corky” lit up every room they entered—especially the dance floor, where their swing dancing made them unforgettable.
They shared 53 joyful years of marriage and raised three loving children: Liza Jensen, Arthur Lopez (Dolores “Dolly”), and David Lopez. Frances was also a proud and devoted grandmother to Anthony Lopez (Jocelyn Muñoz), Justine Ith (Veasna), Michael Lopez, and Trevor Jensen (Marigrace), and a doting great-grandmother to Gianna and Alana Ith.
Corky will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, sparkling eyes, and welcoming smile. Her family finds peace in the thought that she is once again dancing in heaven with her beloved Art.
A visitation will be held on June 8th from 4–8 PM, and the funeral service will take place on June 9th at 11 AM, both at Chapel of the Roses, Oak Hill Cemetery, San Jose.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances’s memory may be made to vallemonte.org.
