His family lived in numerous places but his most formative years were spent growing up at the base of the Bavarian Alps in Germany then after that, he put down roots in San Jose, CA. In 1991, he married Kristin (Vance) Stonehouse.
They have two children, Andrew Stonehouse (27) and Brittany Stonehouse (25). Fred’s family was the number one source of his pride and happiness over the years. Fred was a true observer of the world. His
extensive library included writings of his own. He had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and loved nothing more than a conversation about any topic--his faith, politics, philosophy--where he could share his unique perspective of the world and learn from others. Everyone who knew him would say the same thing: he was the funniest guy in the room. He was witty, genuine, warm-hearted, and passionate. His humor was constant but subtle. In fact, if you weren’t listening hard enough, you might miss his best jokes because of his wry delivery.
While Kristin, Andrew, and Brittany are devastated by his sudden departure, but they know that he would not want a single soul sad. They will take comfort in the memories of him and will continue his mission to care for others. His passing was unexpected, but we trust that God has a divine plan for our lives. It was his time to go to heaven to protect us while we live out that plan. His presence will forever be with all of us.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, John Stonehouse (1979), his mother, Grace Tinnell (2018) and most recently his stepfather, James Tinnell (2020).
He leaves behind many family members and friends who will miss his sense of humor and generous heart.
